Northwoods Children's Museum in Eagle River, WI


Open year round, the Northwoods Children’s Museum (NCM) is a hands-on play museum offering 22 interactive exhibits in which children can experiment with various roles, develop skills and creativity, and learn science and math concepts in a fun, playful environment. As a community resource, the museum has the mission to enrich lives, support families and make learning fun!

 


The museum offers 21 permanent exhibits which include:

Art Center Pioneer Cabin Modern Grocery Store
Shadow Room Fishing Pond Construction Junction
River System Grandma’s Attic And Much, Much More!

In addition, there is another exhibit area that changes throughout the year to add interest and highlight seasonal topics. The seasonal exhibit area may feature a Badger Mine, the cultural-theme of Around the World, the science-based Sky and Space, a mini-cranberry bog in October, an ethnic Christmas theme in December and it houses baby animals in the spring.

A member of the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), our playful exhibits, programs and special events support learning, build confidence and encourages children to connect with the people and places that make up their world. Parents, grandparents and children have the opportunity to spend quality family time together in the exhibits or during our special events.

Easter Bunny Sunday – Afternoon of the Sunday before Easter
NCM’s Annual Birthday Celebration – Second Saturday in June
NCM’s Benefit Auction – First Tuesday in August
A Night at the Museum (Halloween Event)—Friday prior to Halloween
Super Shopping Saturday – Second Saturday in November
Turkey and Traditions Days – Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving
Santa Saturday – First Saturday in December

The museum also includes a Discovery Store that carries a wide variety of educational toys for various ages along with science and craft kits, books, games and puzzles. Products are ordered regularly and new items are introduced frequently.

Hours:
From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
From Labor Day through Memorial Day, the museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.; and it is closed on Mondays.
The museum also closes for New Year’s Eve, New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July (unless it’s a rainy day), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Occasionally, the museum closes for additional days, so please check the website.

Admission:
Museum admission is $7 per person, ages 1 to 100. Annual memberships are available beginning at $75 per year.
